About the HRC-40x480

The High Resolution, Cooled (HRC) 40x480 is a long-range thermal security camera with a 640x480 pixel array that can detect heat signatures from a man-sized threat up to 8.2 miles away.

Security operators can field the HRC-40x480 as a portable stand-alone system, or integrate it into a network of fixed-site sensors through the flexible Nexus server. It's Pelco D compatible, and supports RS-232 and RS-422 interface communications.

It features a 12.5x continuous zoom telescope that provides wide area coverage and long-range, high magnification performance.

In-Depth Look at the HRC-40x480

Proven Thermal Security Camera: See in total darkness, through smoke, dust and light fog; when their cameras are at their worst, we are at our best. Night vision will never compare to the power of thermal cameras.

13.7° - 1.1° field-of-view range: Detects man-sized threats out to 7.5 miles

Large-format, high resolution thermal 640x480 infrared detector:
Unmatched sensitivity and 4-times the resolution of mid-format systems significantly increases range performance and image quality

Compact, Long-range Optics: Detects threats at extreme ranges while maintaining low weight and small size

12.5x Continuous Zoom: Maintain situational awareness & never lose sight of the threats while zooming in

Less than 19-pound (8.5kg) system weight:
Lowest system weight in its class; HRC 40x480 is portable and easy to field

The Johnson Criteria assumes that the critical dimension for a human being is 0.75 meters. To get DRI, you need 1.5 pixels, 6 pixels and 12 pixels across 0.75 meters in the object pane. That means:

Detection = 1.5 pixels / 0.75m = 2 pixels per meter
Recognition = 6 pixels / 0.75m = 8 pixels per meter
Identification = 12 pixels / 0.75m = 16 pixels per meter

Assuming that a man is 1.83m by 0.5m, the following would apply:
Human Detection
Detection
3.6 pixels by 1 pixel
(You can see something
is there)
Human Recognition
Recognition
13 pixels by 5 pixels
(You can see that a
person is there)
Human Identification
Identification
28.8 pixels by 8 pixels
(You can see that the
person looks like a soldier)
The Johnson Criteria assumes that the critical dimension for a human being is 0.75 meters. To get DRI, you need 1.5 pixels, 6 pixels and 12 pixels across 0.75 meters in the object pane. That means:

Detection = 1.5 pixels / 0.75m = 2 pixels per meter
